• Mohinder Suresh

Mohinder Suresh is a genetics professor and the son of Chandra Suresh. When he learns of his father's murder, he becomes determined to find the killer and unravel the mysteries of his father's research.

Mohinder Suresh is a former genetics professor at the University of Madras in Chennai, India. Mohinder had taken his father’s position after he left to pursue his radical theories for which he became the laughing stock of the University. Further back than Mohinder can remember, he had an older sister, Shanti who died of a genetic abnormality when he was only two. Mohinder’s mother would later explain to him that they believed Shanti was very “special,” possibly exhibiting some unknown power before her death. His father, Chandra Suresh, was determined to figure out what caused her death, and became obsessed with finding out where this genetic abnormality originated. This obsession eventually led to a falling-out between Mohinder and his father after he found out that Chandra was abandoning his family and his job to pursue his “ridiculous theories” in America. Chandra believed that he had finally tracked down an “evolved human”; his “Patient Zero”.

Trivia
- The role of Mohinder was originally written to be a 55-year old geneticist looking for superpowered humans. However, Sendhil Ramamurthy's audition was so convincing that the main character part was rewritten to be a younger geneticist following in his father's footsteps. The concept of the father geneticist was spun off into the minor character of Chandra Suresh. Most Heroes episodes begin and/or end with a voiceover by Mohinder.
Quotes
- This quest. This need to solve life's mysteries. In the end, what does it matter when the human heart can only find meaning in the smallest of moments? They're here. Among us. In the shadows. In the light. Everywhere. Do they even know yet?

- Mohinder Suresh: We are not the pinnacle of so-called evolution. That honor belongs to the lowly cockroach. Capable of living for months without food. Remaining alive headless for weeks at a time. Resistant to radiation. If God has indeed created Himself in His own image, then I submit to you that God is a cockroach.

Peter Petrelli: Wow.
Mohinder Suresh: Solar eclipse.
Peter Petrelli: Yeah. Yeah, I wonder if it's gonna be total.
Mohinder Suresh: Not here, no. In some other part of the world, yes. A global event. Makes one appreciate just how small our planet really is. And we're all quite small really, aren't we?
Peter Petrelli: What's your name?
Mohinder Suresh: Mohinder.
Peter Petrelli: I'm Peter. Let me ask you something, Mohinder. Do you ever... get the feeling that you were meant to do something extraordinary?
Mohinder Suresh: I'm driving a cab you may have noticed
Peter Petrelli: No, I'm not talking about what you do. I'm talking about who you are. I'm talking about... being special.
Mohinder Suresh: Yes, we are all special.
Peter Petrelli: That's not what I meant.
Mohinder Suresh: Some individuals, it is true, are more special. This is natural selection. It begins as a single individual born or hatched like every other member of their species. Anonymous. Seemingly ordinary. Except they're not. They carry inside them the genetic code that will take their species to the next evolutionary rung. It's destiny.
