Kristen Bell's star is rising with the much hoped for renewal of "Veronica Mars." This petite actress is, as Abel Koontz's daughter's roommate described her Veronica character, "cute as a button" and, I might add, sharp as a tack. Buffy with a brain, if you will.
Grew up in Huntington Woods, a suburb of Detroit. Has two sisters, Sara and Jody, and is of Polish ancestry. At age 11 she won her first audition and played a banana and a tree in a community theater production of Raggedy Ann and Andy. Attended Shrine Catholic High School in Royal Oak, Michigan, where she starred as Dorothy in a production of The Wizard of Oz in 1997. She had supporting roles in Fiddler on the Roof (1995), Lady Be Good (1996) and Li'l Abner (1998). Kristen studied musical theater at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. Yes, that was her hanging in Washington Square Park. She learned her craft well as evidenced in 2005 by her sly performance in Showtime's "Reefer Madness." She has also comported herself admirably in recent talk show appearances. Kristen made her Broadway debut in 2001 as the original Becky Thatcher in "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer." In 2002 she played opposite heavyweights Laura Linney and Liam Neeson as Susanna Walcott in the Broadway revival of the late Arthur Miller's "The Crucible." She has appeared Off-Broadway in Reefer Madness and also in productions of Hair, The Wizard of Oz and The Miracle Worker. No grass grows under this girl's feet unless it's in "Reefer Madness!" |

Quotes |
- On figuring out the mysteries on 'Veronica Mars') " Rob loves to be a tease. But I've picked up a lot. I ask guest stars, So... how long are you contracted for? That usually tells me something."- when asked if she goes to Broadway musicals): "I do. I go twice a year to see shows, and I always have friends doing projects. Some day!" - On following 'Gilmore Girls' on the CW next season): " (WB shows like 'Gilmore') have a handle on the demographic we drool over." - On Veronica Mars): "I like that it's a female heroine, that it's a role model, and I like that it's strong, tough female able to be feminine. When you actually watch it, it's very relatable. Buffy was a female heroine, but she was fighting vampires." - (In In Touch Magazine): " I'm not a risk taker. I don't do plunging necklines or really short skirts. I try to stay as classy as possible and provide a little mystery." - Her thoughts on being an actress) "As an actor and as a woman willing to step outside of her comfort zone, I admire actresses that do that, like Cameron Diaz in Being John Malkovich. Any woman who's willing to not look beautiful. A lot of this business is based on looks."
